Jean received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Ceara (Brazil) in 2017 and 2019, respectively. He is currently pursuing his PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Houston, USA. His research interests include power quality improvement, modular multilevel converters, battery integration to electrical grids and microgrids.

Levent U. Gökdere
Levent U. Gökdere received a B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering with a power major in 1985, an M.Sc. degree in controls in 1989 from Istanbul Technical University, Istanbul, Turkey, and a PhD degree in electrical engineering in 1996 from the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA. He was a post-doctoral research associate in the electrical engineering department at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC from 1996 to 2000. He worked for industry for more than 15 years. Since 2017, he works as a lecturer and a research scientist in the electrical and computer engineering department at the University of Houston, Houston, TX. His research and teaching interests are in motor drives, power electronics and electric machines.

Xingpeng Li
Xingpeng Li received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Shandong University, Jinan, China, in 2010, and the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 2013. He received the M.S. degree in industrial engineering and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ, USA, in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Currently, he is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Houston. He previously worked for ISO New England, Holyoke, MA, USA, and PJM Interconnection, Audubon, PA, USA. Before joining the University of Houston, he was a Senior Application Engineer for ABB. His research interests include power system operations and optimization, energy management system, microgrids, and grid integration of renewable energy sources.
Harish S. Krishnamoorthy
Dr. Harish S. Krishnamoorthy (Senior Member, IEEE) joined the ECE department of the University of Houston (UH) in Aug. 2017, where he is currently an Associate Professor. He received his B.Tech. degree from the EEE department, NIT Tiruchirappalli, India, and his Ph.D. degree from the ECE department, Texas A&M University, College Station, USA, in 2008 and 2015, respectively. From Jun. 2008 to Jul. 2010, he worked at GE Energy, Hyderabad, India, and received the Lean 6-Sigma Green Belt certification. From Apr. 2015 to July 2017, he was with Schlumberger, TX, USA. He has also worked at Ford and Google.
Dr. Krishnamoorthy has over 110 conference/journal papers in refereed publications; and has two granted US patents. He is a member of the core organizing committee in various IEEE conferences, including APEC (2025, 2024, etc.), ECCE (2024, 2023, etc.), and INTELEC (General Co-Chair in 2025). He is also an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics. He received the UH College of Engineering’s Research Excellence Award in 2022 and Teaching Excellence Award in 2021. He was also named an ‘OTC Emerging Leader’ by the Offshore Technology Conference in 2022, and Early Career Research Fellow (ECRF) by the Gulf Research Program of the US National Academies. He received three major awards in 2023: the NSF CAREER Award (from the U.S. National Science Foundation), the IEEE Power Electronics Society’s (PELS) Young Professional Exceptional Service Award, and the NIT Tiruchirappalli’s Young Achiever Award.
Dr. Krishnamoorthy has participated in several research projects awarded by the U.S. NSF, DoE, DoD, etc. worth about $10 million (out of which, ~$4 million is to his credit). His research interests lie in WBG semiconductor-based power conversion systems for renewable energy technologies, energy transition, electrified transportation, reliability/health prediction in energy systems, etc. Dr. Krishnamoorthy has given over 45 national and international invited talks on related areas in the last 5 years.
