Arunima Sunil

Her background spans advanced research and development in power systems, power electronics, and intelligent control. She earned her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Goa, where her research focused on multi-agent based distributed control of microgrids resilient to communication uncertainties and cyber-attacks. Her work addressed critical challenges such as voltage and frequency deviations, unequal power sharing among distributed generators, and system instability under high penetration of distributed energy resources.

Her research approach integrates theoretical modeling and stability analysis with practical validation, combining MATLAB/Simulink simulations and real-time experiments using platforms such as OPAL-RT, dSPACE, and Typhoon HIL. She also holds an M.Tech from Government Engineering College, Trivandrum, and a B.Tech from the University of Kerala. Her current research interests include power electronics control, battery energy storage systems, and ultra-fast charging infrastructure for electric transportation applications.

She has demonstrated strong technical leadership in academia, successfully managing research projects, mentoring students in laboratory and simulation environments, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver impactful research outcomes. She is currently serving as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Power Electronics, Microgrid & Sustainable Energy Conversion (PEMSEC) Lab at the University of Houston, where she contributes to cutting-edge research on power electronics control and sustainable energy technologies.
